just a thought, it would be cool if there was a blacksmith to research new weapons for your units.

What new weapons?
Spear fighters use spears, swordsmen use swords, axemen use axes, archers use arrows, and so on. What is there to change about that?
The troops already have an advantage if you have the right weapon that your paladin can hold.
Extra weapons for the units seem quite useless.

If you mean upgrading your researched units, there are already some settings with that.

Sounds basically like the smithy... although I'm not exactly sure what you mean...

yea upgrades would be a cool like horseshoes and boots or strength training for improved speed and other stuff like that but that could all go through the academy
