Classic World Opinion/Discussion

We have been asked on more than one occasion about classic worlds/rounds and players wanting them to come here to the US server. So we wanted to open our ears and listen to your opinions on a couple questions that will be listed below. We will use this info to not only gather if we should do a classic world on the US server but what type of settings you guys would be interested in. So feel free to list your opinions below, if you are unsure of what a classic world is feel free to ask but I will list my opinion of a classic world at the very end. So you can skip it if you already know or read it if you don't.

Would you play/like to have a classic world on the US server?

What settings would you like to see on a classic world?

What have you seen on classic worlds on other servers that you liked/disliked?

Mine/ZeZe's opinion on what a classic world is:

The three things I think of when thinking of a classic world are as followed

High speed: 3+
Low Member count: 15 Max
No premium features: FA/PA/AM only

These three settings make a classic world for me and ZeZe. Makes for an interesting world and normally highly competitive and they don't last very long. These worlds normally last 3-4 months tops. So they are ideal for players who are active enough to play fast speed worlds but don't want to commit to a game for 8+ months.

In my opinion, classic worlds on .us would see little success. Anyone who would actually want to play classic has likely already joined such worlds on other servers as it is. We have a hard enough time getting enough players for a good, action-packed normal world, and classic worlds attract a smaller audience to begin with.

Not to be negative! Just my honest thoughts. I'd still prolly take a casual stab at it. And die. Horribly.

An important thing about Classic worlds is flags, paladin (new paladin) and the +20% resource bonus. Classic worlds tend to have no flags, however if you decide to have flags on, with the new paladin and +20% bonus resources, it can get pretty crazy. With these settings on US25 I have managed to get an extra 51% resources (16% from flag, 20% from PP res, and 15% from my paladin). On a classic world it's that multiplied by whatever the speed setting is which is HUGE. As you can imagine this encourages players to rush pits and play it out "Simcity" style which isn't very Tribal Wars like.

I am currently playing a Classic world where there is no flags and the old paladin with no weapons (so no resource bonus) is active. The only thing active giving bonus resources is the +20% and just that encouraged a significant amount of players to rush pits, most of the top 25 players where doing so. I was however farming and pumping troops out and most of the players in the top 25 players were still making and spending just as much resources as I was. Keep in mind that I was the top looter, at times I would double the rank two looter, and consistently loot 1.5x as much as the second best looter, that was however not enough. I also upgraded my pits, not to the same extent as other players though.

With this in mind, I'd suggest that hauls are on or else we'll be playing "Simcity", which I personally might not want to play.

---

Another important setting is the support setting. Keeping in mind that Classic worlds often have low tribe member counts, I think that the settings "no outside support", "support withdrawn on leaving tribe", and not being able to support/receive support until have been in the tribe for 1-4 days, should all be active. All of this reinforces the low tribe member count, and discourages family tribes which US players seem to be very fond of. (Whether family tribes are good or not is another discussion, bad imo)

---

Morale is another interesting setting. Classic worlds are supposed to be fast paced? That's one of their main characteristics in my opinion, and the morale setting has a significant affect on how long a world lasts. I'd suggest for a first Classic world to have morale on in order to give less experienced players more of a chance as high speed worlds are very frustrating and difficult if you don't know what you are doing. Having morale on does however make for an even more fast paced world which might be fun every so or so classic worlds.

---

I personally prefer no church worlds and I don't mind archers. Tech doesn't matter. Coins are better than packets (if you're going to have packets then please please have it being cheap rebuilds), no bonus villages and barbs shouldn't grow over 2000 points. BP? I think that 2 days is ideal.

---

Another thing that isn't uncommon on Classic worlds is starting with a full village, or a 5 village and even up to 25 villages. I personally prefer starting with a 26pt village as start-up is fun.

---

Give us the "of the day" achievements early as well, makes the world more competitive. After 4-5 days I'd say.

My two cents....

form what i read,a classic is similar as high performence worlds on net or special worlds on .ro. High speed, only PA/FA/AM active, and different settings(on .ro we had 9 special worlds with different settings).i never played and i will never play a classic world because of the high speed.i am more like a grandpa,i prefer slow worlds, especially worlds with speed 1.
About classic worlds on us,if you decide to start making one you should activate 3 settings:
1)once you join a tribe, you can not leave it-it's possible,i saw on .ro.so,no more merges between tribes to win the world.the only way to end it is to war against any tribe on map.
2)support only in tribe-no friends on map to help you in need.when you are attacked you are based on your troops and on your tribemates.
3)few members in a tribe.15-20.why?few players on us server, but enough to establish 4-5 competitive tribes.it will be enough, for the begining:p

Now that the watchtower is being added to the game gives another reason as to why a Classic world may be suitable.

I'd play a classic world, but I don't think it's good for the us server to have one.
Because the speed would be 2.5+,the world would end faster than most us worlds this far.
Even though start up is inno's biggest income,a world that ends in 3 months would also not benefit inno.
without the extra premium features, inno doesn't gain much,so if they would do such a world, their biggest interest would be to keep it active for as long as possible.

I'd much rather see speed come to .us than a classic world because speed would be played by uk,net,de,ro players as well while a classic world would have the same amount of players as a normal world, but people will be nobled faster, meaning less people buy premium account and so on so I don't think Inno would do this.
