You can assign tribes colors and your own villages colors. With premium features. Other is assuming you have other tribes colored and other pertains the villages and tribes that are an "other" category that you haven't assigned. They're just other villages

Click into the village. Manage map highlights - select your color.

What you say is absolutely correct. Barbarian village color can be individually changed on the minimap if you know that they are there. My intent and purpose is to have a new barbarian village that now appears on the world map be easier to see on the minimap without my having to know that it is there first. The world that I am currently playing on has not had a new barb village appear in over a month. When one does appear I would like to have its visibility more apparent on the map and minimap without my having to make the change individually.
