No matter you have done, it is still a waste of resources. If you have done the 15-level resources, that's hillaroius. A playstyle, such as aggressively clearing your area as soon as possible or choosing to play a defensive startup, is typically quite unique from one player to the next. It depends entirely on the individual's personality and activity level.
However, learning to play doesn't require you to change your style of play. Playing hyper-aggressive from the moment BP ends or going with a completely defensive startup doesn't prevent one from becoming a top player nor does it turn one into a top player. A player who has a strong understanding of the game can make it to the top with either style, provided they approach it correctly. The basic game mechanics don't change for the individual, so everyone who wants to succeed needs to learn them in order to do so without relying on luck.
I find it interesting that Despicable Me is still hanging on to the rank 2 spot, despite what happened. I certainly hope the learning process has begun and the player is already better for it.

if they cba to learn the basics and are content with the way they currently play..
who has the right to force them into learning the basics to improve their game?
oh and its not that interesting at all. he wouldn't even be top 40 by today if it wasnt for ETN's stupid leader refusing to kick him out.
because DM has convinced slushy that he has the troops to counter/backtime me.
but all hes done was send me a fake scouting backtime that arrived 30seconds before my axes/rams/cats came back home.
he doesnt have the troops to take me out.

I didn't mean to imply that I was correcting you. I merely wanted to elaborate on that point. I totally agree that a person can't be forced to learn how to play, and I wouldn't try to force it upon him/her. If a player wants to be good, then learning the game is a requirement. Anyone who wants to play casually can't expect to perform at a high level without really knowing what he/she is doing.
That's unfortunate. Sounds like it has turned into a no-win situation then. ETN is holding on to a player with no troops to improve their rank, DM is being shielded from the consequences of their actions (preventing truly learning from it), and you're losing out on what I can only assume would be an excellent farm.

Pointwhoreing is basically just for the achievements: First to 1k points, first to 10k, first to 2 villages, etc. Its almost impossible to get those achievements, and then help your tribe win wars and ultimately win the world. Thats why I don't pointwhore.

Actually, it's very possible.
Taking a top 20 spot at the 1k-3k Mark requires two things.
A LOT of farming.
OR
Pointwhoring.
Obviously, premium can be added to either of these.
