He took an average for the overall total, keeping it out of a score of 10. Surely you can't be trying to ridicule him for using "total" instead of "average score" when it is fairly simple to see what he meant?


I'll save some time for others and write the math here.

5 categories out of 10. Total, is out of 50.

3,3,7,8,9 were the respective scores for each category. Total here is 30.

30/50 is the total. However, to keep it in the "out of 10" format, .Serious Play has done a clever little thing, and divided the 30/50 by 5. This results in 6/10, which is technically the average score, but it is still the total.

You could also argue that 30/50 simplifies down to 6/10. But I will stall any pedantics who say that it will go further, to 2/5, and point out that the "out of 10" theme is preferred by most users for rating each category, so to have the total score as an average to keep it "out of 10" seems to be a very good idea to me!

Also, as a less humor-intended comment: this player may or may not have english as his first language. Commenting on his post, which is a reasonable one, by picking out a single word to try to ridicule, is a bit cruel, as he may understand the word to mean something slightly different
