I can not seem to find the answer any-where.

But what is going on with scouts in this world?

I am having singles and or doubles killed while attacking barbarian villages with no troops in them.

Am I missing a setting/rule some-where?

Even with escorting troops I am having scouts killed. When no enemy scouts are there.

The world is most likely set for either 4 or 5 scouts minimum to any village

No world requires 5, at least not in regards to them dying.

Fake limit causes you to have to send 5 or more when sending them alone (ie. not alongside other troops), but you can send 1 with other troops just fine on fake limit worlds.

There are 4 scout settings:

0: Scouts only see resources in the village and troops in the village.

1: Scouts only see resources in the village, and troops in the village, and buildings in the village.

4: Scouts see everything, but you must send 4 of them or 1 will die, also they are weaker in regards to scouting, normally you need half as many scouts as the defender to get intel, on these worlds you need to attack with as many scouts as the defender has. (This is used on worlds without paladin weapons where scouts can see troops outside the village)

10: Scout level determines what scouts see. (This is used on 15-tech worlds.)

its 3 not 1 and in addition of that external unit can be scouted too cause 3 doesn't require 15-tech .

and for settings 3 , 4 and 10 enough scout must survive in the attack to see resources , buildings and external units
that means :
to see ressource at least 50% of the attacking scouts must have survived
to see building at least 70% of the attacking scouts must have survived
to see external units at least 90% of the attacking scouts must have survived or a paladin must be in the attack equiped with spy item

in casual world the spy is in setting 3

I think I follow what you are saying here. But this does not seem to apply to what I have experienced.

I know scouts have 3 levels normally. And that the resulting display is based upon how many live. But I have never had a single scout die to a village with no troops or walls before.

I have started sending ten. That seems to stop them from dying. I will try other numbers and see what I can come up with for result.

We both told you how many you need to send: 4

We both also explained why: Any world where scouts have only one level and show troops outside the village has "weaker" scouts.

I suggest using the *gasp* In-game simulator.
How thoughtful of whoever put that feature in ;)
