How do you think the new quest system will affect gameplay in us5?

Pretty straight forward question, how do we think this new tutorial will affect game play and strategy? Obviously there is the new quests which give people free troops, meaning the moment bp is off its going to be hard to tell where a good farm will potentially be.

There's this quest that means some barbs are going to be spiked too.

But also how do we think it will affect strategy? Do we think that the quests are actually beneficial with some of the instructions perhaps going against whats advised in some player written guides?

Are you following the quest line religiously or are you playing the same way as ever, enjoying the occasional perks that come when what you do and what the quest wants overlap?

I think a new strategy we will see alot is people rushing the quests to get the troops then slowly drifting off to their usual styles of gameplay they they are so used to.

Your thoughts on this? likes, dislikes, are you following the quests? why? or why not? let us know what you think!

It won't change much imo, I think further on the game it still will be the farming that makes the difference and not those quests

A good point, but many will say that the farming you do in the beginning is the foundation for the rest of the game, these new spiking quests and extra defences and mandatory walls could really set some farmers back if they are unlucky enough to have been surrounded in quest following players.

Well, than you start farming on those barbs first, until you have enough offence to clear the player troops they have from their quest, but i don't think this will make any difference , maybe a a few more losses, but they are easily regained.

There is always that, but if you arent stopping the players from farming the barbs too, resources will be stretched thin if everyone is relying on barbs before players, could lead for a more stretched out start period?

Well, if that is my only concern, than I just need to live with the fact that i'll have a slow progress :( , but I don't think there are so many active farmers around.

Affect a little in start, but if we have 100 cl or more the game will be the same.

I never clear players till nobles are out, barbs are more than enough to be both rank 1 and support constant troop queues.

There are no spikes because .us is weak.Well, actually are a few if we look at some players's oda.But on .net there will be a lot ofvspikes in the first few days.

Wrong!
figure out the reason yourself later. but here is a hint: it has something to do with the world size.

Or maybe we don't find spikes because they are all around you're account?Or fake account ...

Anyway, whatever he reason I'm happy there are no spikes. With all the dry barbs spikes are the only missing thing to destroy this world ...

I hate spikes, they do nothing good for the everyday farmer. I mean if you send enough troops you can always clear them, but that loss of troops does some damage to you. I could do without it. Spiking farms is a move only for NOOBS to use. The players who are really the best won't waste their time spiking a barb. they'll just clear that player with OFFENSIVE troops.

Look, if you are concerned about not being able to farm players that got free troops from quests, remember that it was a little ways in after you started doing quests...

any players under maybe 100 shouldn't have many, if any, troops i think. should be plenty of those around.

most of the things the quest gets you to do it reimburses you with whatever it took to build it, meaning people get free buildings and means they get a little further in day one than perhaps they usually would, a good attempt at keeping people in a world isnt it?

Well, that and the fact that the farms may be better once they quit for those of us who farm.

true, i forgot to account for them having built the resource levels from the quest too

in the long run, I don't think it will affect gameplay much. The same players who got to nobles first will still get there first, unless they have bad luck or someone else has good luck with farming or being attacked or something.

but basically, i don't think the extended quest-tutorial will change much other than, as you said, affect certain people's start-up strategies, and, as earlme said, create better built villages for those players who lasted a few days but then quit.
