While academies can be useful, family tribes are nearly always bad. The game is clearly not geared toward family tribes, considering the inability to support players that are not in your actual tribe.

An academy can be used for many things though, especially early in the game. If you're not entirely premade, you sometimes want an academy so you can weed out the less experienced players at a later stage if you've (accidentally) done too much mass recruiting - just move the better players to the main tribe and the less experienced ones to the academy.

Granted, the main tribe will still not be able to support the academy.. but with a bit of effort counter offensives can come a long way to achieving the same as supporting. All of that coordination becomes impossible if you have 150 members scattered over 4 tribes (yes, LOD, I'm looking at you).


More on topic: RawR is climbing the rankings. What do we think of them? Point whores? PP whores? Unlike SnobsR, I don't really know any of these guys from other worlds.
